Marlin - acrobats of the sea

From: Steven Agius

It was in the year 2000 when my father, brother, cousin and I went to NSW marlin fishing. It was my first time on the great blue ocean, and never did I witness a marlin being caught.

I was 15 at the time and we went out for a wonderful day. The sky was blue and the wind was calm, everything was pleasent for my sea sick stomach. Although with a good old sea sickness tablet I was fine.

The day continued to be wonderful and all was calm until, "BANG" the outrigger clip snapped and we were hooked on. This was a great sight, but it gets better when, "BANG" the second outrigger snapped.

I, being too young and inexperiened to catch a marlin, was the camera man for the day, taking footage of these wonderful acrobats of the sea. Both marlin were brought up and released. The sight of seeing the violet colour when they were revived was priceless.

I hope you like my fishy tale.

Thanks Steven Agius
