GLENELG RIVER SYSTEM -
MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: 10cm carapace length.
BAG/POSSESSION LIMIT: 5 (of which no more than 1 fish may be equal to or exceed 11cm carapace length).
VICTORIAN WATERS OTHER THAN THE GLENELG RIVER SYSTEM -
MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: 9cm carapace length.
BAG/POSSESSION LIMIT: 5 (of which no more than 1 fish may be equal to or exceed 12cm carapace length).
Note:
Some species of freshwater crayfish are listed as threatened under the
Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act. Taking or keeping of these listed
species is prohibited. Refer to listing here.
You may not possess female spiny freshwater crayfish in berry (with
eggs) or with young attached, or remove the eggs, spawn, setae or
fibres from any female spiny freshwater crayfish.
COLLECTION METHODS FOR SPINY FRESHWATER CRAYFISH: by hand, or up to 10 baited lines (no hooks), or with recreational hoop nets. Nets must be labelled, see Equipment Regulations .
RECREATIONAL HOOP NETS (INLAND): Not more than 5 hoop nets are to be used in the following waters:
- Carrol's Creek
- Glenelg River system (excluding Rocklands Reservoir)
- Goulburn River system (excluding Lake Eildon)
- Kiewa River system
- Latrobe River system
- Mitta Mitta River system (excluding Lake Dartmouth)
- Ovens River system
- Ryans Creek
- Tarra River system
- Waranga Basin
- Wodonga Creek
including
any tributary stream flowing into those waters and any impoundment on
those waters. For all other waters you may use 10 hoop nets. For

HOW TO MEASURE: Spiny
Freshwater Cray are measured from the rear of the eye socket to the
nearest part of the rear edge of the carapace (main body shell).
