MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE:
no minimum.
BAG/POSSESSION LIMIT:
20 litres whole yabby OR
5 litres yabby tails.
You may have in your possession whole yabbies or tailed yabbies, but not both at the same time.
COLLECTION METHODS FOR YABBIES:
Yabby Pots:
(including opera house and folding frame nets). The use or possession
of yabby pots in, on or next to public inland waters is prohibited.
Recreational Hoop Nets: Not more than 5 hoop nets are to be used in the following waters:
- Caroll's Creek
- Glenelg River system (excluding Rocklands Reservoir)
- Goulburn River system (excluding Lake Eildon)
- Kiewa River system
- Latrobe River system
- Mitta Mitta River system (excluding Lake Dartmouth)
- Ovens River system
- Ryans Creek
- Tarra River system
- Waranga Basin
- Wodonga Creek
including
any tributary stream flowing into those waters and any impoundment on
those waters. For all other inland waters you may use up to 10 hoop
nets.
Baited Lines:
You may use no more than 10 baited lines with no hooks attached to take
yabbies. A landing net may be used in conjunction with the lines.
Bait traps: You must not use more than 2 bait traps in Victorian waters, see Equipment Regulations .
Labelling:
Hoop nets and bait traps must be attached to a tag which remains above
the water's surface with the recreational fisher's full name and place
of residence clearly and legibly written. For detailed information
