Taking or attempting to take, including catch and release, is prohibited.
The Australian grayling is totally protected freshwater fish growing to
a maximum of about 33cm. It is considered scarece and appears to be
confined to certain coastal and mountain streams. A distant relative of
the trout, grayling prefer cold, clear water though, like the trout,
may move into marine waters in areas where the freshwater temperature
is too low.
