Trout & Salmon Regulations - Sea-run Trout Rivers Print E-mail
The boundary between a lake and a river is the point at which the flowing water of the river meets the backed up waters of the lake, regardless of the water level of the lake.

MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: no minimum.
BAG LIMIT: 5 salmonids of which no more than 2 fish may be 35cm or greater.
CLOSED SEASON: no.

The specified sections of these waters contain populations of sea-run brown trout that provide salmonid angling opportunities during the salmonid closed season:

  • Gellibrand River – downstream of the Great Ocean Road Bridge.
  • Ford River – downstream of the Great Ocean Road Bridge.
  • Aire River – downstream of the Great Ocean Road Bridge.
  • Merri River – downstream of the Dennington Railway Bridge.
  • Mitchell River – downstream of Princess Highway Bridge at Bairnsdale.
  • Avon River – downstream of the Stratford Railway Bridge.
  • Tambo River – downstream of the Bruthen Road Bridge.
