The boundary between a lake and a river is the point at which the flowing water of the river meets the backed up waters of the lake, regardless of the water level of the lake.

MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: no minimum.
BAG LIMIT: 5 salmonids of which no more than 2 fish may be 35cm or greater.
CLOSED SEASON: total ban on all hook and line fishing during salmonid closed season .
Victoria has some tailrace stream fisheries capable of producing large numbers of large trout (>1kg) based on favourable year round water temperatures and flows, and self-sustaining trout populations. There are no other fin fish species targeted by anglers in these stream sections during the salmonid closed season .
Goulburn River & tributaries upstream of the Trawool Bridge to the Eildon Pondage, but not including the pondage, are closed to all hook and line fishing during the salmonid closed season.
Kiewa River & tributaries upstream of Keegan’s Bridge (Dederang) are closed to all hook and line fishing during the salmonid closed season.
Mitta Mitta River & tributaries upstream of Peters Bridge (Tallandoon) to the Dartmouth Pondage, but not including the pondage, are closed to all hook and line fishing during the salmonid closed season.
Tanjil River & tributaries upstream of the junction with the Latrobe River to the Blue Rock Dam are closed to all hook and line fishing during the salmonid closed season.
