AKA: sea sweep.
MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: 23cm.
BAG/POSSESSION LIMIT:
no species-specific limit.
Note: a total bag/possession limit of 40 fish applies to all scale fish species.

A popular angling fish with good table qualities, sweep are targetted on various parts of the Victorian coastline. They are a full-bodied fish which inhabits breaking waters near the edge of bomboras while younger fish can be found in shallow water near wharves, breakwaters and rocks.

SIZE: Can exceed 45cm and 2kg.

WHERE: Coastal estuaries and close inshore rocks.

TACKLE: Small hooks with bait drifted down on lightly weighted rigs.

BAIT: Peeled prawn, fish strips, squid. Try berley over shallow reefs.

EATING: Good table quality.
