A
popular angling fish with good table qualities, sweep are targetted on
various parts of the Victorian coastline. They are a full-bodied fish
which inhabits breaking waters near the edge of bomboras while younger
fish can be found in shallow water near wharves, breakwaters and rocks.
SIZE: Can exceed 45cm and 2kg.
WHERE: Coastal estuaries and close inshore rocks.
TACKLE: Small hooks with bait drifted down on lightly weighted rigs.
BAIT: Peeled prawn, fish strips, squid. Try berley over shallow reefs.
EATING: Good table quality.
